Elimination diet - for CFS patients
There are many reasons why individuals react negatively to foods, possibly as many as 12, which is why an elimination diet is the best method of assessing food sensitivities. Blood tests (e.g. IgG) test only for one mechanism of food intolerance. Elimination-provocation testing is the gold standard testing method for identifying which foods you are intolerant to and benefits a large proportion of those with ME/CFS. The diet described below is:
- Generally hypoallergenic
- Gluten free, casein free and lactose free
- Low in fructose
- Devoid of all food additives/colourings/artificial sugars
- Low in dietary yeasts
- Low in dietary solanines
- Devoid of caffeine and alcohol
- Unrefined/whole/fresh foods
Elimination diet protocol.
Food patterns to watch out for.
- Dietary yeasts.
- Solanine containing foods. Solanines are contained in tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant.
